It was a tool for creating instant websites on your phone, founded by Jakob Elmgren, Anton Trollbäck & Nima Boustanian during 2014-2015
The site network had over 60 000 hits from over 150 countries, before it eventually shut down in 2015.
This whas Posti.es:
As soon as you typed ”Posti.es” in your browser, you could start building your site.
Then customization your site was simple. We even had a Random design-feautre – which we communicated by using the son "Random" Lady Sovereign, as shown below.
Great artists signed up for for Posti.es. One of them, the very talnented Malin Nordin. Below, her site shown on all devices, compared to the Posti.es tool.
We were amazed of how beautiful our users websites looked. Here's a few of them:
During all this, our strategy was to out-simplify the web.
So our communication towards users and investors always reflected that.
Along with our visual identity that aimed to be toned down, and give the user the feeling of working with "a blank paper", where instead their content defined their eventual sites look.
And we where happy to share our design philosophy with great people.
So, when summarazing our year, these are the numbers we can look back on:
Average minutes spent on site
Nationalities visiting Posti.es websites
The people who seemed attracted to Posti.es where brilliant, expressive, content-creating individuals.
Perhaps that was also the problem.
We didn’t want Posti.es to be a single purpose tool (or, a set of parallel tools for different purposes). We wanted it to be a one-size-fits-all new standard of how the web was built.
Our recipie for that was extreme simplicity. In a way, it was a study in how much you could remove. With the promise that technology and interface never would stand in the way for the user.
Looking around us now, it’s the niche products, and the services with multi purpose toolsets that succed. And that itself is a proof that they deserve it.
So we say cheers to them. Cheers for the amazing journey.
And cheers to new adventures!
